Greg Heine is a New Orleans based artist and photographer.

Artist Statement:

"I’ve always been drawn to light and shadow. The mixing of these two elements plays heavily into my images. I grew up in and around New Orleans, where the air is thick and translucent. Where dark allies and barely lit street corners permeate the landscape. Hedonism and religion somehow coexist here in a delicate dance of mutual exclusion. This is where my aesthetic eye was born and nurtured.

I studied graphic design and illustration in college, but I didn’t embrace photography until much later. Learning my craft through experimentation and studying other artists that interested me. Visually I was inspired predominantly by the cinematic eye of film directors like Ridley Scott, David Fincher, the Brothers Quay, David Lynch and others. I wanted my images to seem like a dream. A strange and fragile world lost in it’s own timelessness. A world that is surreal, erotic and elusive. The sensual interplay between light and shadow."
